Please read all information carefully; there’s important stuff in here!
This class will take place on Zoom on Tuesday, November 3 at 1pm Pacific Time, and will take 2-3 hours.
A favorite of Broom Makers and Witches alike, this is one of my most requested classes. Gorgeous to look at, satisfying to make, yet difficult to master, this broom opened up a whole realm of creative and stylistic possibility when I first learned it.
Together, we’ll create a Braided Altar Whisk (aka Braided Rooster Tail) entirely by hand using longstanding traditional techniques, with a focus on hand and finger positioning, consistent tension, and bristle density. Though this class you’ll leave with a broom that feels powerful to use and is beautiful to look at, with a deeper connection to the process that shaped it.
This class does not include materials. You will need to gather:
- 8 oz broomcorn hurl - I use 18-20 inch
- approx 30 ft strong twine - I use 18 gauge nylon
- a dowel or other footbrake
- a lighter
- a sharp knife
- sharp scissors
- a wide-tooth comb
- a hand towel
Optional but helpful:
- a gardening glove for your dominant hand
- a hand/spring clamp
Cost includes admission to the Zoom class, and a recording sent afterward.
An email will be automatically sent to you when you order, detailing how to log in and other tips to prepare for class in advance. Make sure to keep an eye on your Spam or Junk folders to make sure you don’t miss the prep email.
You must be signed up to receive email updates in order to receive the prep email. Without the prep email, you won’t have access to the class.
