Please read all information carefully; there’s important stuff in here!
This class will take place on Zoom on November 1 at Noon Pacific Time and will take 2-3 hours.
One of my very favorite broom styles both to teach and to use, the Cobwebber is a highly effective and versatile tool. Making one provides us with the opportunity to learn and practice several broommaking techniques at once.
Together, we’ll create a classic Cobwebber entirely by hand using longstanding traditional techniques, with a focus on weaving and stitching. When you’re finished you’ll have made a broom that offers reach, flexibility, and beauty.
This class does not include materials. You will need to gather:
- 13-15 pieces of craft/unprocessed broomcorn
- a handle - keep it skinny
- approx 30 ft strong twine - I use 18 gauge nylon
- a dowel or other footbrake
- a stitching needle
- a lighter
- a sharp knife
- sharp scissors
- a tall container for soaking (at least as tall as the talks of your broomcorn)
- a hand towel
Optional but helpful:
- a gardening glove for your dominant hand
- a hand/spring clamp
- a drill
Cost includes admission to the Zoom class, and a recording sent afterward.
An email will be automatically sent to you when you order, detailing how to log in and other tips to prepare for class in advance.
Make sure to keep an eye on your Spam or Junk folders to make sure you don’t miss the prep email.
You must be signed up to receive email updates in order to receive the prep email. Without the prep email, you won’t have access to the class.
