This workshop will take place on Zoom on Saturday, October 25 at 10am Pacific, and will take about 5 hours.
Please sign up by October 9 to allow time for kit assembly and shipping.
Get a head start on Witchy Season and learn how to craft your own traditional all black Besom broom! This engaging and interactive workshop will take you step-by-step through the process of making your own magical broom. You'll gain hands-on experience and insights into the rich history of broom making while developing the time-honored skills required to make a quality piece of functional art. The besom is most closely related to the original broom design and is often a special part of ritual work.
Your kit will include:
- black broomcorn
- a kiln-dried PNW hardwood handle
- black twine
- a stitching needle
- a workshop prep pamphlet
Other tools you will need:
- a drill
- a lighter
- a sharp knife
- sharp scissors
- a hand towel
- a dowel to use as a foot brake (explained later)
- a gardening glove for your dominant hand (optional)
- a container to soak some of your broomcorn
*Note: This broom will be made with a solid wrapped twine finish, not a woven cap.*
